DIY: Prepare your Face and Makeup for a Perfect Look at your Wedding

Getting ready for the wedding does not only involve choosing the perfect dress and a gorgeous hairstyle. Makeup is fundamental for a perfect look and more importantly, preparing your face days before the Day. If you want to do your own make up and preparation, we have prepared a list of steps and tricks you may follow to make an impact with your perfect face.

Preparation

It is essential to start getting your face ready ahead of time. At least a week before your wedding, exfoliate it and keep it moisturized; as a result, your skin will look fresh and with less fine lines. Make sure you use special eye contour gels or lotions. However, if you do not have these, you may use chamomile tea bags instead. On the rest of the face, use Aloe Vera for at least eight nights before the big day. Note: It is super important to take into account that if you will need to remove any facial hair, do it at least a week before. You definitely don’t want a red face, swelling or any bubbles in your beautiful bride’s skin. The day of the wedding, ensure to close your pores so your face is completely ready to get makeup on. You may use some ice cubes or cold water to close them.

The Makeup

Follow this steps and you will get a perfect DIY wedding makeup:
  • If you want your makeup to last for at least 12 hours, first apply a makeup primer. A primer is a cream that not only improves the effect of your makeup, but also makes it last longer. You just need to put a bit of the product in your fingertip and spread it through your whole face.
  • You have the option to apply a corrector or concealer—or both—if you need to cover any face’s imperfection or balance your skin’s color. A corrector is applied to reduce the redness or yellowness of your skin. To know which color you need, stick to these guidelines:

a)      Use green to correct redness or any red area in your face.

b)      Choose pink for purple under eye circles if you have a reddish skin tone.

c)       To hide brownish blemishes, use peach.

d)      If you have olive or tan skin and purple or blueish under eye circles, use yellow.  The concealer is used to hide any blemish or dark circles and it always goes in top of the corrector.

  • Apply your foundation (prefer HD foundations to make your face look more natural.) If you are not sure which color to choose, try applying a bit in your forehead and waiting for it to dry and check how it merges into your skin.
  • Apply the pressed powder using a brush. Don’t use translucent powder or it won’t last. Be careful when spreading it; you want to avoid lighter spots.
  • Use a waterproof liquid eye liner to make sure it stays all day, no matter how many times you cry!
  • Remember to put on eye brow make up to define your face.
  • You might want to use a long-wear lipstick; however, it is better to go for a regular lipstick and retouch it through the day.
It is vital to try your make up several times before your wedding: trial and error will lead you to perfection. The day of the wedding, bring your make up kit with you to take care of any unexpected imperfection. The most important, enjoy and feel beautiful and confident. You will shine!

Fun Wedding Decorations Trend: Bunting and more Bunting

wedding decotationsIn our previous post, "Wedding Banner Trends: DIY Flower Garland", we mentioned the trend of bunting. The first time I heard of bunting, I was really confused, but once I saw a picture, like the one to the left, I realized I knew exactly what bunting was. You know, it is those triangle flag banner hanging things. Despite the difficulty in describing what bunting is, it ends up being a super fun wedding decoration and  a great banner style for a plethora of wedding themes.

Bunting can blend into just about any wedding theme as it easily customizable. It probably wouldn't be at home in a super formal wedding or at a church ceremony, but it works great with vintage themes, outdoor, country, travel themes, floral, and so many other themes and styles. This fun wedding decoration works across multiple platforms, but also adds a unique and cute look to your wedding decor that is just unexpected. Additionally, it is an easy DIY.

Wedding Banner Trends: DIY Flower Garland

DIY and Crafts Ideas

Wedding Banner Trends Tons of couples are utilizing banners, bunting, and garland in engagement photos, wedding photos, and even as decor at the ceremony and reception. Basically it is everywhere! It works wonderfully over or around gift tables, sign in tables, and highlighting your wedding cake. It can also be used at bridal showers and bachelorette parties as a quick and easy way to create a lot of color and decor at your party site. Basically, the stuff can go everywhere! So, what is it? Banners: This is the big category that so many other things (including bunting) fit into. These are exactly what you think they are. They are signs or flags that hang over entrances, tables, across walls, etc. Bunting: This is a type of banner. These are those hanging triangle flags that are often seen at sporting events, carnivals, and vintage styled weddings. Garland:This a different than a banner in that it won't say anything and won't be draping material or anything like that. Garland, instead, is a string of or wreath of flowers, leaves, or other object-like materials. DIY Flower Garland  A cute trend that is popping up is using paper flower decor and paper flower garland at weddings and bridal showers. Here is a simple step by step tutorial on how to make a paper flower. 1) Gather Materials:

  • Sheets of book paper (or construction, card stock, scrap-booking, or basically any kind of paper)
  • lead pencil
  • paint colors of your choice
  • water cup
  • paint brush
  • scissors
  • hot-glue gun and glue.
2) Draw a swirl on your chosen paper. 3) Cut the swirl out leaving a base for your flower to sit on. 3) With the base at the far end, twist the cut out swirl tightly. 4) Once you have twister the swirl up to the base, place a small dap of glue on the base and then press the twist lightly to the glue and let go slowly allowing the swirl to unfurl. 5) Once you have let the swirl open up to the point that you feel it looks like a flower, press the end and the base together more tightly and apply glue to areas that need help connecting and being secure. 6) If you want your paper to be different colors, before step two paint the sheet of paper. I would recommend watering down the color and lightly saturating the paper so that the paper still twists easily.
