How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Dress: Part II

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Dress

In part of our choosing the perfect wedding dress series, we gave you some ideas to take into account your body shape and those areas you want to conceal in order to make your body look much better. Now, let’s continue with more useful tips and make sure you remember them when choosing your wedding dress so you take the best out of your figure! Perfect Wedding Dress Photo by: The Long Hau
If you are tall, try a dress with lace or any other decoration to give the dress dimension. If, in addition, you are thin, you can let yourself be free to try a variety of gowns to see what feels the best on you. If you are blessed with curves, choose a dress fitted at the waist and that has minimal decorations on the hip or chest. Go for lightweight fabrics that fit well and flow freely. If you have a pear body shape (small waistline with curvy hips), try a dress fitted at the top and then have volume flowing down. This will make your torso and neckline to look tight and draw attention to enhance the upper part of your figure. If you love your back and want to show it off, look for an open back with a deep cut to the lower back. These designs look amazing if you have a curved back. Now, finding the perfect wedding dress is essential; however, it is also important to consider other elements that will not only complement but also reflect the bride’s personality on her whole look. Now that you selected the best fit for your body, you need to decide which accessories you will wear to make your outfit perfect. Concentrate, be calm and think which accessories you want to wear to match your dress and not look too charged. There are jewelry, tiaras, veils, gloves, hair accessories, purses and much more accessories to choose from and the decision should be based on the style of the bride, the weather/location and the dress. Something else you should consider is the design and the color of the dress. Therefore, the accessories will combine with it instead of standing out and discredit the dress. Finally, it is vital to pay special attention to the shoes. Remember you will be standing for many hours plus the dancing and greeting and your feet will definitely appreciate comfortable shoes. Look for elegant, beautiful and comfy shoes. Make sure to choose your size and a height you can handle. Also remember that many brides opt for two pairs of shoes; one to show for photos and for the ceremony, and another for an outdoor photo session and reception dancing. Overall, choosing the perfect wedding dress will have a huge impact on your big day. The more beautiful you look, the more beautiful you will feel.

How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Dress: Part I

How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Dress

Choose the Perfect Wedding Dress Photo Credit: June Cochran
Your wedding day is getting closer and with that, one of the most difficult decisions comes; how to choose the perfect wedding dress. By now you have probably looked to magazines and websites to learn about the trends in wedding dresses; however, the most important is to choose a dress that will make you look even more beautiful. There are so many options to choose from that brides get confused when it comes the moment to choose one, especially because they want to get the most out of their body and cover up those little details that worry them. No matter if you are thin, chubby or curvy, there is always a perfect dress for you. You just need to take some aspects into account and your choice will be easier. Here we have some useful tips for you. To look more stylized, go for a mermaid cut dress. There are tons of beautiful designs that will improve your figure Just take into account these cut of dresses have tail. If you don’t have a small waist, the best you can do is wear a deep V neckline which will lengthen your torso. Wearing heart-shaped necklines will make you look curvy. If you are lucky to be curvy, highlight that by wearing lightweight fabrics with a nice fall. Also, look for tight fitting designs that help you highlight your waist, hips and breasts. If you have small breasts, go with draped and decorated dresses which will help you create a volume effect on the area. Also, you could look for a push up or magic bra that helps you disguise that small detail. If, on the other hand, you have really big breasts, the best way to disguise them (if you want to), is to wear dresses without decoration on the neckline area and look instead for those that have those details on the bottom. Also, avoid turtleneck dresses which will emphasize that area. In case you have broad shoulders, you should try to divert attention from them. A great idea is to avoid large or pump sleeves. If you have too wide or thin arm, you will need to find a dress with sleeves that helps you conceal them. Also, you could use your veil to cover them a little. Choose an empire style design if what you are looking for is to hide your tummy. Another great idea is to get a dress with decoration below the neck so all attention is driven to the top of your body.   Find more useful pieces of advice on the second part of our article so you choose the perfect wedding dress for your body.

Tips for Short Brides

  • The first thing you should take into account is volume. When you are short, you should avoid a lot of volume and instead, go for a tube or mermaid cut dress. The tightest your dress is, the taller you will look. In case you want to have a little volume on your dress, we recommend you to wear an A-line one.
  • A dress with jewel details is also a great choice. The only thing you must take into account is that the jewelry must never be below your hips and of course, you should not abuse them; otherwise, the effect will not be as desired.
  • When you are to choose the color, go for only one shade. Combining colors or shades will actually make you look shorter and that is what we want to avoid. Also, try not to choose a dress with prints.
  • Elude any round-necked dress, it will not favor you at all. Instead choose a V-neckline which not only stylize your shoulders and neck, but it will only make you seem taller. Don’t be afraid of wearing a cleavage, it will definitely flatter your figure.
  • As a bride to be, you may probably be dreaming with a long tail or vail. However, we are afraid to tell you that in your case, this is not a good idea as it will emphasize your height. Instead of a veil, you could wear a beautiful headdress which will make you look elegant and even taller.
  • Stay away from big accessories. You could wear whatever you like but of an average size so you do not overdo your look.
  • Shoes are your best allies when you are short. Therefore, do not be afraid to wear high heels. The higher they are, the higher you will look. Of course, do not compromise comfort. Choose high heels that you know you will be able to carry all day without ending up walking weird or with a terrible feet pain.
  • Finally, a great tip to get a couple additional centimeters is with your hairstyle. Bet for high ponytails or buns. These will not only make you look elegant but also taller.

Hopefully, these tips will help you looks even better for your special day. Good luck!

We have been talking and learning about weddings celebrated in other countries, with cultures very different from ours and that you can bring you so you can immerse into their traditions. Today we will learn about Japanese weddings, which ceremonies are full of tradition even if they have been very influenced by the Western lately.

In Japan, you may see Christian, Buddhist, Shinto and non-religious weddings. In addition, the couple may choose a style of ceremony without being part of their religion.

When you receive the invitation for a Japanese wedding, the recipient must return it with an answer. Also, you have to take cash with you so you can give it to them as a gift in a special envelope called “Shugi-bukuro” with your name written on the front. The amount for the gift will depend on the relationship you have with the couple. Just take into account that the amount must always start with an odd number because when the Japanese marry, they are looking forward union and not dividing anything between two.

The bride and groom’s gowns are very traditional. The bride wears the “shiramuko” which is a white silk kimono. The most appealing detail is that they cover they head with a circular hat called “tsuno-kakushi” which purpose is to cover the horns (jealousy) to her mother-in-law and future mother. Really traditional brides will also paint their faces white to symbolize virginity and purity. Once they are married, the bride usually changes her costume to celebrate. They usually use red because it is a good luck color. The groom carries a “montsuki” which is black kimono. They also change for the celebration by wearing a gray kimono or a black Western suit.Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

The wedding are held in a temple called “Shinto”. Guests and family are to enter first, followed by the bride who enters taking her mother’s hand and leaves by taking her mother-in-law’s hand. After that, the groom enters taking his father’s hand. Finally, the Shinto priest enters lastly.  The ceremony take approximately 20 minutes. It begins with a prayer in classical Japanese, then the couple exchanges the “Juzu” which is a type of old rosary and then exchange the rings.

The most important part of the ceremony is when they drink the “San San Kudu,” which means Three-Three-Nine and represents heaven, earth and man. This act symbolizes union of the couple and the gods. They use three cups called “sakazuki” and drink in three sips. Number nine is three times number three, which is a sacred number meant to bring happiness to the couple.

After the ceremony, all the guests and family members walk, in procession following the couple for the family photos. Now is when the bride takes off her hat. Japanese do not usually have physical contact or displays of affection in public, for you to take into consideration.

Weddings from the World: Muslim Weddings

Photographer: Marisa Holmes http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/07/11/real-wedding-12/ Photographer: Marisa Holmes
If you have been invited to a Muslim wedding and you are not sure what to expect, keep reading this comprehensive guide to avoid any surprise. Find below the most important facts:
  • Muslim weddings are held in a Mosque and before the Imam (religious and sometimes political leader). The tradition dictates that all preparations related to the bride's wedding day, such as clothing or accessories, should not be seen by the groom before the wedding ceremony or it will be bad luck.
  • Islam allows men to marry Christian or Jewish women because those religions have a holy book, however, Muslim women are not allowed to marry a man who is not Muslim.
  • The marriage contract has to be certified by the groom and his tutor—known as Wali—and at the ceremony, the Wali dedicates some words to the couple.
  • The provisions and laws are contained in their holy book called the Koran which is read during the ceremony.
  • The traditional dowry is not what most people believe. It is a gift from the future husband to his wife-to-be; for instance, an engagement ring, earrings, among others.
  • The couple must appear before the "sheikh" (a kind of Islamic magistrate) with three witnesses to perform the marriage contract.
  • According to Islamic law, after the ceremony, the couple is legally and spiritually bound; nevertheless, the bride returns home to plan the wedding celebration which happens one or two weeks after.
  • A Muslim wedding usually lasts from three days to a week.
  • The first night’s celebration is exclusive for women. The bride wears a kaftan and has henna marks on her hands and feet to keep the evil spirits away. Each symbol drawn has a meaning. The bride also enjoys a Hamman which is a relaxing steam bath that purifies her. That night, she is escorted by other women with candles, incense, chants and dances that allude to her beauty and to the process she is about to experience.
  • The mother of the groom, hands a tray with keys, bread and milk. The key represents the welcoming to the new family and the food represents abundance.
  • From the second night and on, there is a festival for all family and friends. The celebration depicts all the Muslim tradition and folklore.
  • Unlike other religions, in Muslim weddings, women open the dance!

  • Visit different jewelers to get an idea of the current price ranges, characteristics and other details such as reservation, installment payments, custom fit, initial engraving and discounts.
  • Some jewelry shops offer a package that includes the engagement ring plus the wedding rings, so you have a clearer idea on how much you may spend.

Photographer: Claire Loves Love http://ruffledblog.com/editorial-boudoir-shoot-with-bohemian-styling/ Photographer: Claire Loves Love
When you are about to get married, your attention usually goes to the dress, the bouquet and the shoes, but what about lingerie? When you are preparing for such a special occasion, you must definitely not forget to include intimate apparel for both, the ceremony and the wedding night because it is indispensable to wear super comfortable and functional clothing. The design of the lingerie will directly depend on the style of wedding dress. For instance, if you will be wearing a dress made of silk or satin fabrics, you should better avoid lace or thigh lingerie that may be noticeable or can leave marks. Even if there is no magic wand to make you look perfect, there are some types of underwear that help shape your body to look much better and sexier. For example, girdles, padded or push-up bras, are ideal for corset of strapless wedding dresses. The underwear you choose for that special day will also vary upon the details of the dress such as trim or fabric, but also on how you want to look that day. It is not the same using a padded or push up bra than using a regular bra. Fantasy The functional and comfortable stay behind to let lingerie for the wedding night take place. In this scenario, you want to look for more sensual underwear that provoke and become part of the seduction and mystery ritual that happens on the wedding night. Fantasy lingerie is perfect if you want to be extra ordinary. It may include lace, garters, belts and applications. Look for garments that are non-traditional, that you would not wear every day. The color palette for both outfits is kind of limited to white, ivory, pink or lavender; however, if you are bolder, you may include other tones such as red or hot pink, especially for the wedding night. The most important when choosing lingerie is to consider how it makes you feel when wearing it. You must feel sexy, elegant, confident but above all, comfortable.

10 Instrumental Songs for Walking Down the Aisle

Jonathan Ong Photography greenweddingshoes.com The wedding entrance where the ceremony is held at, is undoubtedly the most anticipated moment of a wedding and it definitely creates a romantic atmosphere while fills the guests expectation; therefore, it is important to take your time and carefully choose the perfect song for that moment when all eyes will be on you.   Choosing the wedding ceremony music may simple; yet, it is not. Our recommendation is not to wait until the last moment to decide for a song or you might end up regretting your choice. Without a doubt, walking down the aisle is a tremendously special and emotional moment, which is why it is so important to identify what music you want to be played. We have created a list of 10 instrumental songs that are perfect for that unique moment:
  • The first proposal is the classic Felix Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" in C major. It may be too classic for some people. However, it may be dreamy—and a must—for some other.
  • We continue with another classic: Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. It is a very suitable melody for the wedding entrance due to its romantic and delicate nature. It is very used in religious weddings.
  • A very emotional song is “The Moment” by saxophonist Kenny G. It makes of any wedding ceremony a magic and passionate event.
  • A song that really gives Goosebumps from start to end is the instrumental version of “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.
  • “May it be” by Enya in its instrumental variety is another song that will perfectly suit your entrance. It is much more emotional when played with flute.
  • A song that works perfectly to walk down the aisle is “The Rose” by Amanda McBroom but in its instrumental version. There is a great one played by violinist Andre Rieu.
Soundtracks are a great choice for wedding ceremonies. Usually they are instrumental and appropriate for the entrance since they are emotional and inspiring. Here are our favorite ones:
  • “The Main Title” of The Cider House Rules is a sweet, slow paced and romantic song.
  • “The Ludlows” of Legends of the Fall. Who didn’t fall in love with the movie and that song?
  •  A very emotional song is “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” of the Lion King Movie. Especially when performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London.
  • Finally, a romantic, emotional and inspiring song is “Married Life” from Up.
What do you think? Which one do you like the most?

DIY: Prepare your Face and Makeup for a Perfect Look at your Wedding

Getting ready for the wedding does not only involve choosing the perfect dress and a gorgeous hairstyle. Makeup is fundamental for a perfect look and more importantly, preparing your face days before the Day. If you want to do your own make up and preparation, we have prepared a list of steps and tricks you may follow to make an impact with your perfect face.

Preparation

It is essential to start getting your face ready ahead of time. At least a week before your wedding, exfoliate it and keep it moisturized; as a result, your skin will look fresh and with less fine lines. Make sure you use special eye contour gels or lotions. However, if you do not have these, you may use chamomile tea bags instead. On the rest of the face, use Aloe Vera for at least eight nights before the big day. Note: It is super important to take into account that if you will need to remove any facial hair, do it at least a week before. You definitely don’t want a red face, swelling or any bubbles in your beautiful bride’s skin. The day of the wedding, ensure to close your pores so your face is completely ready to get makeup on. You may use some ice cubes or cold water to close them.

The Makeup

Follow this steps and you will get a perfect DIY wedding makeup:
  • If you want your makeup to last for at least 12 hours, first apply a makeup primer. A primer is a cream that not only improves the effect of your makeup, but also makes it last longer. You just need to put a bit of the product in your fingertip and spread it through your whole face.
  • You have the option to apply a corrector or concealer—or both—if you need to cover any face’s imperfection or balance your skin’s color. A corrector is applied to reduce the redness or yellowness of your skin. To know which color you need, stick to these guidelines:

a)      Use green to correct redness or any red area in your face.

b)      Choose pink for purple under eye circles if you have a reddish skin tone.

c)       To hide brownish blemishes, use peach.

d)      If you have olive or tan skin and purple or blueish under eye circles, use yellow.  The concealer is used to hide any blemish or dark circles and it always goes in top of the corrector.

  • Apply your foundation (prefer HD foundations to make your face look more natural.) If you are not sure which color to choose, try applying a bit in your forehead and waiting for it to dry and check how it merges into your skin.
  • Apply the pressed powder using a brush. Don’t use translucent powder or it won’t last. Be careful when spreading it; you want to avoid lighter spots.
  • Use a waterproof liquid eye liner to make sure it stays all day, no matter how many times you cry!
  • Remember to put on eye brow make up to define your face.
  • You might want to use a long-wear lipstick; however, it is better to go for a regular lipstick and retouch it through the day.
It is vital to try your make up several times before your wedding: trial and error will lead you to perfection. The day of the wedding, bring your make up kit with you to take care of any unexpected imperfection. The most important, enjoy and feel beautiful and confident. You will shine!

Guys: How to Deal with a Bridezilla

When you proposed, she was so happy and full of love and excitement…then she started planning the wedding. The girl who once was sweet and calm, suddenly became grumpy and obsessed about all her wedding details. There is a name for that my friend: A bridezilla! Unless you want to end up leaving her at the altar, stick to the below pieces of advice.

Calm a Bridezille

Photo Credit: Amanda Watson Photography greenweddingshoes.com  Help her with the Planning If you want to have a really angry bride, don’t show any interest on the wedding. Otherwise, try to get as involved as possible. Take her look at the locations, give your opinion regarding decoration or do some research to choose a theme: she will be delighted. In addition, ensure you make her understand she is not alone at this, you will support her through the whole process. Don’t forget that leaving her alone will make everything worse and you will be the main affected.  Spoil her Every Now and Then Try to keep your bridezilla as relaxed as possible. How? Well, there are a couple techniques which never fail:

  • Buy her an emergency survival kit.  You will not only fulfill one of her needs, but you will demonstrate how caring and loving you are. This one doesn’t fail.
  • Book a spa session for you two. You will both relax and enjoy a nice moment together. If you want to save money, try to do the massage yourself. We bet she will think it is really romantic and will appreciate it.
  • Pick one day of the week and name it the “weddingless day.” None of you will be allowed to talk about the wedding during that day and in exchange, you will let her choose an activity for that day.
Don't Allow Tantrums Yes! you have to support, love, help her and be patient; however, that doesn’t mean you must let her be a bridezilla. As soon as she starts yelling, doing tantrums and disrespecting you: stop her. You don’t have to put up with that. Let her know you will gladly comfort her and listen to her; but, whenever she calms down. Don’t let her turn you into a groomzilla. Most likely, you will be the one with the feet on the ground. Therefore, make sure you help her stay in the real world. If you remember to show her how much you love her and at the same time draw the respect line, you will definitely pacify your bridezilla.
