What to "Do": Deciding How to Style Your Hair for Your Wedding Day

What to "Do": Deciding How to Style Your Hair for Your Wedding Day

One decision when planning your wedding day that usually induces high levels of stress for the bride and some possible mocking from a teasing groom or brother is how the bride wants to do her hair. Laugh if you want, but the how to style your hair on your wedding day is a pretty big deal and will effect your overall wedding look. As the bride, you will of course have the advantage of that pure happiness glow, but to pull together a beautiful look you need to pay extra attention to your hair.

popular formal updos for long hairstyles  Wedding Hair with a Veil

First off, do you want to wear your hair up or down? Al lot of brides will try desperately to grow there hair out as long as they can for their wedding day with the intention of wearing it long beautiful locks. But if your facial features are shown off best with a shorter hairstyle you may want to forgo the push for longer lengths. A Short spunky do can be made elegant plenty easy. Regardless, if you do want to wear your hair down for your wedding we have two suggestions: Firstly, don't just wear it in a straight everyday look and secondly add some sort of hairpiece or veil. We don't suggest having your hair down and straight because it is rather casual and everyday look. Adding some soft waves or curls is a great way to add a little extra umph and elegance to your look. Also, with adding a hairpiece you will further distinguish yourself as the bride particularly from your bridesmaids. Wearing your hair up does tend to more easily give you added elegance, but, like when deciding if you should have a short or long hair cut, deciding between an up and down do will require the same facial feature considerations. Furthermore, you will still want to consider the addition of a veil, headband, tiara, or other hairpiece to mark you as queen of the day. Besides, what bride wants to turn down the opportunity for a little added sparkle?

Preparations for a Perfect Bridal Headpiece

Tips for a Balanced and Beautiful Bridal Headpiece

Bridal Headpiece

While veils are a wedding accessory staple that will surely last another century in the wedding world, the bridal headpiece is a looser term that is gaining traction among fashion-forward brides looking to make a statement. Whether it's a hat, comb, tiara, or flower, a bridal headpiece is a beautiful and stylish way to engage your inner fashionista as you walk down the aisle. Consider a bridal hair accessory to replace or supplement your traditional (or nontraditional!) veil, and you'll turn heads for more than just arriving when the music starts at the ceremony. Your bridal headpiece should reflect your personality and your creativity, just as the rest of your look does. Be sure, however, that you don't overpower the rest of your outfit. The right bridal headpiece, like anything else on your person the day of the wedding, is a part of a whole. Be sure to discuss your bridal headpiece look with your hair stylist well before the big day, and do at least one trial with the actual bridal headpiece. Don't spring this new accessory on your stylist the day-of! A bridal hair accessory is a part of your hair style, not just an addition, and your stylist will need the time and tools to make it look just right!

The Dos and Don'ts of a Crystal Bridal Comb

Doing Up Your Up-Do with a Crystal Bridal Comb

Crystal Bridal Comb

Bridal combs are becoming the final word in bridal hair fashion, and there's no doubt as to why. Subtle, flirty, and striking, bridal combs are the perfect way to keep up your up-do and compliment your outfit flawlessly. The material most commonly associated with bridal combs is crystal, and with good reason. A crystal bridal comb can be arranged in any manner of styles and compilations, and they range from barely noticeable to absolutely blingtastic. While it's fun to style and arrange your own crystal bridal comb, it's much more practical to purchase a pre-arranged one. The number and styles that you can find a crystal bridal comb is is unmatched now more than ever.   Once you're found the right crystal bridal comb for you, it's important to take it to the salon with you when you get your hair trial done. Even if you have a comparable (but less expensive) crystal bridal comb with you, differences in weight and look could alter the way your hair looks the day-of. If you have the chance, wear your crystal bridal comb around to try out the feel and weight of it before you get it all done up. You'll also want to ask your stylist how to fix your veil if it becomes detached from your crystal bridal comb.

Princess Bridal Tiara

It’s so easy to find a princess bridal tiara that not only fits your head and style, but your budget as well. A princess bridal tiara is characterized by its prevalence of bling, it’s distinct crown shape, and the attitude worn beneath it. Any tiara becomes a princess bridal tiara if you wear the pride and confidence of a true royal on your wedding day. A princess bridal tiara doesn’t have to be big and flashy, either. A simple crown of beads or gems can really help you stand out on your wedding day.   Make sure to bring your princess bridal tiara to all of your hair appointments and consultations. Have your stylist show you how to arrange or fix your princess bridal tiara throughout the night if it comes askew or loose. As your veil is likely to attach to your princess bridal tiara, make sure your maid of honor knows how to detach and keep it safe throughout the reception.   Don’t be shy about asking for and finding the perfect princess bridal tiara. Every girl deserves to wear one if she wants to, and your wedding is the perfect opportunity to give it a try. Who knows, if you like your princess bridal tiara enough, it might be difficult to get you to take it off.

Consider the Cathedral Veil

A Cathedral Veil for Style and Drama

Cathedral Veil

Your veil length is probably not the first thing you consider when you’re picking out the perfect wedding gown. Though the salon may supply you with a “sample veil” as you try on dress after dress (to feel the full effect of your wedding “look”), they won’t usually whip out a cathedral veil for your viewing pleasure. The right cathedral veil, however, could be just the touch you need for your complete wedding outfit. A cathedral veil lends a dramatic look to your gown and many sweep the floor for a royal touch as you walk down the aisle. Cathedral veils don’t have to be expensive and ridiculous, either. The right cathedral veil is very reasonable and lends just the right amount of class to any wedding. You might think to limit your use of a cathedral veil to indoor weddings, however, as no one likes dirt and grass stains on their white wedding gear. So if you’re having an outdoor wedding, leave the cathedral veil for those with a taste for polished wood flooring.   There are ways to pin and protect a cathedral veil after your walk down the aisle – make sure to ask your hair stylist to show you tips for securing and pinning it without her supervision.

Bridal Hair Accessories to Complete your Look

Selecting the Right Bridal Hair Accessories

Bridal Hair Accessories

Bridal hair accessories are what makes a complete outfit on your wedding day. Whether you have your hair up, down, pulled back, front, curly, or straight, every bridal "do" needs some special bridal hair accessories to complete the look. So what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of each style? Which bridal hair accessories are best for different wedding styles and venues?   Bridal Combs: If your inspiration is a mix of old Hollywood with contemporary glamour, bridal combs might just be the right bridal hair accessories for you. Bridal combs work best with long hairdos that sweep to the side - these hair accessories should look like they're held up effortlessly. If you have thicker, longer hair that will look heavy if pulled to the side, opt for a different style. Bridal Combs are the most versatile of all bridal hair accessories; from sparkling flowers to beaded tendrils, there's a bridal comb that will fit your look and your venue. Tiaras: No girl is ever the wrong girl for a tiara. These bridal hair accessories work best for formal affairs and sweeping ball gowns - just like the fairy tales. Almost any hairstyle will work well with a tiara, especially if you don't have much to work with. Short hair tends to be limiting in the world of bridal hair accessories, but tiaras are a great compliment to any length.   Birdcage Veil: The reason birdcage veils count as bridal hair accessories is this: they're usually secured by a headband or small pill box hat. Birdcage veils take a special kind of bold to pull off well, especially if you're opting for a funky head accessory. Vintage weddings tend to rock these bridal hair accessories best, but don't be intimidated - Birdcage veils are all about the attitude.
