A Bohemian Real Wedding with Victoria and Trevor

bohemian bride

Photography for V+T Wedding: Kara Rush Photography

Trevor and Tori met in 2012 while attending the same church. Many of their friends instinctively knew that they would be a good match and continually tried to set them up. After a several failed attempts, they gave in to their friends’ pushing prodding. Even then they thought going on a date would be primarily a fun night out and completely social. To their surprise, they found themselves inseparable after just one date.

They were engaged in October of 2013 and had only 3 months to plan their wedding!

“Trevor took me to a John Mayer concert at the Hollywood Bowl. All night I kept having this feeling that he was going to propose. By the time the concert was over, my brain was fried from thinking he was or wasn’t going to propose. On the way home, he took me to a vantage point overlooking Orange County where a picture of us, candles, succulent flowers, and some sparkling cider was set up. He got down on one knee and BAM!”

On January 3rd of 2014 this sweet couple was married in the LDS Temple in Newport. Following the private and quiet ceremony, they proceeded to the beautiful venue of Hillcrest Terrace of Fullerton. Their gorgeous bohemian chic wedding was full of laughs, elegance, and pure joy.

The Wedding Planning

mormon temple

The biggest concern for Victoria and Trevor was the guest list because their reception venue only allowed for 145 guests. Since they both have a large family, this meant limited room for friends and other important people in their lives.

For her wedding decorations and accessories, they mainly shopped at Hobby Lobby and did DIY projects. For example, for their table center pieces, they collected glass bottles, spray painted them gold, and then put baby breath in them. Projects like this make decorating easy and cheap if your are on a tighter budget.

The Wedding Look

Bohemian Bride Look

Victoria wore a beautiful floor length wedding gown dripping with lace. Her quarter length sleeves adds simple sophistication. Her favorite wedding accessory and the one piece that established her chosen bohemian bride look was her flower crown. When asked about it she said, “I personally think veils mess up your hair, get caught in the wind, and are expensive for a piece of fabric. I liked the flower crown look because it is so unique and easy to wear for a day. It established the bohemian, elegant but easy-going vibe I was looking for.” She was most certainly right and her wedding day look turned out flawless. When getting ready on her wedding day, Victoria chose to get ready with only her mom. She said that since she was going to be getting married in a sacred and religious place in just hours, she wanted to respect that and not make a big party of getting ready. This is a great alternative to the festive rush of getting ready with your bridesmaids and surely provide some sweet moments between mother and daughter.

Her sweet groom, Trevor, wore a grey or Taupe suite and a light blue-mint tie. Their goal with their wedding looks was to keep things simple, but elegant.groomsmen in tan bridesmaids dressdownload film Why Him? now

They had a large bridal party and had them in gold and grey. For their color scheme they chose to go with neutrals because it was an easy way to keep things sophisticated. They added hints of peach and greens in their flowers (Done by Allie at -basically a very soft color pop! This worked great with the mismatch bridesmaid dresses and the groomsmen’s suit pants. Mismatch bridal parties is a huge trend now, but can be tricky with very specific color choices, bold colors, and small bridal parties.

The Reception

In N Out Wedding

To go with their fun personalities and their love for In-N-Out they actually had a In-N-Out food truck as the caterer of their wedding (To hire a food truck for your wedding click here)! This was a big hit with the wedding guests and became a special highlight of their wedding.

IN-N-OUT Wedding

Dancing at Weddings

For activities at their reception they had dancing and even a (volunteer) magician to entertain the kids! They had wanted to have a fire pit with s’mores, but their venue wouldn’t allow it. It is always important to keep in mind what you want in comparison to what your venue will allow.

wedding dance

wedding cake cutting

They also kept the wedding traditions of their first dance, wedding toasts, cutting the cake, and the send off. Cutting the cake, of course, turned playful with Victoria and Trevor somehow missing each other’s mouths.

Bubbles Send Off

They ended the night with a bubbly send off (Victoria had wanted sparklers, but again the venue could’t allow it due to regulations) and road off on Trevor’s motorcycle/scooter happily as husband and wife.

Bride and Groom Kiss

Congratulations to Victoria and Trevor! We hope your first year of marriage is as beautiful as your wedding day. Thank you for sharing!

Real Wedding with Dani and Taylor (Part 2: The Big Day)

Beach Wedding

Wedding Photography by Dorritt Solesbee

Their California wedding was styled simply but with precise elegance. Her colors were navy, peach and creme. She decided on these colors because she desperately wanted a bright wedding, but didn’t want to use summer colors during the fall. So she used the navy to bring in a deeper tone and allow the peach to pop out. She, Taylor, their relationship and their wedding are absolutely breathtaking.

Mormon WeddingThey were married in the beautiful Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint’s Newport Beach Temple on November 23rd 2013. It was all blue skies, sunshine, and a little bit of cold; a perfect day for a wedding.

The Ring

Rose Gold Wedding RingKnowing Dani so well -and perhaps with some of her hinting of what she liked – Taylor picked out Dani’s ring on his own. It is a beautiful oval diamond with a rose gold band and diamonds that line the sides. The surprises didn’t end with the engagement either. As a young couple working through school, Dani didn’t expect to be able to get a wedding band just yet. Taylor, knowing this, surprised her during their ceremony by putting not just her engagement ring on, but also a matching rose gold band lined with small diamonds.

The bride, the dress, the look.

Wedding PhotographyDani’s dress was absolutely gorgeous. It was fitted with a beautiful lace throughout and an elegant train. Taylor, looked good too in his well tailored navy suite.

Wedding VeilOne of the most beautiful bridal accessories Dani had was her long lace trimmed veil. The simple elegance of her look continued with a dainty rhinestone bracelet and white pearl necklace. It had been her intention to wear her mother Caroline’s pearl necklace that had been gifted by Caroline’s father, but she ended up needing to find a replacement and found her necklace at Charming Charlies. All in all, it is undeniable that Dani made a beautiful bride.

The Wedding Party

Peach BridesmaidsDani had six bridesmaids, including her younger sister has her maid of honor, her cousin and four of her closest friends. She decided to put her bridesmaids in peach and cream. Dani picked out and bought the skirts for all of the girls and asked each of them to find a light peach top and gold accessories.

Bridesmaid Bouquet While Dani’s bouquet featured roses, the Bridesmaids’ bouquets focused on happy and bright daisies. Each bouquet was wrapped in a navy blue ribbon. Her flowers were done by a family friend.

Navy Suite Groomsmen

Matching Dani, Taylor had six groomsmen, including best friends and family. Each wore a navy suit, navy striped tie, and brown dress shoes (looking snazzy).

A Luncheon

Luncheon After the wedding ceremony, they held a small luncheon at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Newport. They invited family, the bridal party, and a few close friends. There, they had a few items picked out from the Spaghetti Factory menu for their guests to choose from, they showed a video slideshow of photos of the bride and the groom growing up, and had speeches from immediate family members and the best man and maid of honor.

The Reception

They hosted their wedding reception in the gorgeous home of one of their friends. They had a large white tent set up in the landscaped yard with chandlers and even heaters to keep their guests from getting cold. The walkway up to the tent was lined with lanterns. At it’s start was the gift table, sign in table, and a screen with the slideshow that had been played at the reception. They served a delicious menu appropriate to the season of soups with bread bowls and salads catered by Catering by Linda (Contact for prices and menus: 916-439-2127).

Reception CenterpiecesThe centerpieces included a variety of glass vases, candles, daisies, and framed engagement photos.Wedding CakeSince Dani is not the biggest fan of cake, she decided to do wedding cup cakes with a top small cake for the cake cutting tradition. Their beautiful and much loved cake was made a designed by Pila’s Pantry.

Traditionswatch film Split 2017 now

They started the night with a traditional greeting line, but did not want to be there all night, so limited it to one hour. After that they danced with their friends and family. Then they had the father daughter dance, mother and groom dance, and then couples first dance as husband and wife.

Real Maryland Wedding With Trevor & Emily

Meet The Couple When asked about their first kiss, Emily simply stated, "It was awesome, perfect, and in a hammock." This, almost completely, describes the relationship between Trevor and Emily. These two love birds met in Utah in January of 2011; her first memory of Trevor being him "showing off" on the piano playing "Great Balls of Fire" during a church choir practice. They began dating in August of 2011 when Emily invited Trevor to go running with her. It wasn't long after that until they, and anyone within two feet of them, knew that they were meant for each other.  In a way, Emily's sweetness and Trevor's (sometimes described as annoying by his siblings) habit of knowing everything about just about everything, strikes a balance between the two, making it easy to love one another.

Bride and Groom

Trevor proposed to Emily at a picnic at the Corona Del Mar beach. His family can remember his eagerness as he whisked her off to this specially planned picnic after an 8 hour drive from Utah to California to visit his family, unable to wait another day. Mormon Temple The couple was married six months latter in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's Maryland Temple on May 4th.

Little Details

Sunflower Bouquet For her bridal's Emily used big sunflowers that really just match her beaming personality. Then on her wedding day her bouquet was made of Lily of the Valley and were arranged by a close friend. She wanted to keep things simple and pretty, so her colors were sage green, cream, and coral pink. She had her bridesmaids pick out their own dresses in cream and had her family dress in cream also. Harkness+Fenn+Temple+Wedding+1-1840666961-O copy Wedding Family The ceremony was the most important part for them and as Emily indicated, "It went perfectly". They were most grateful to have so much family and friends present, especially since they decided to have the wedding in Emily's hometown in Maryland and all of Trevor's family were on the west coast. Bird Cake Toppers At the reception they had these adorable bird "you and I" cake toppers and a cake trimmed in Lily of the valley. DPP_0002-1843659015-O copy At the reception, they upheld quite a few of wedding traditions including cutting the cake, the father daughter and mother and son dance, the first dance, and even a money dance! They also did a bouquet toss and a garter toss, both were caught by the maid of honor and the best man! Father Daughter Dance First Dance Garter Toss Wedding Tradition Wedding Photos They even included a poster cut out of Trevor's brother who was unable to attend the wedding since he was serving a mission for his church. This is a great way to have those important family members who can't make it to the wedding feel like they are a part of everything!

A Second Reception

Then, because the families lived on opposite coasts, the couple had a second reception or open house at the Fenn's residence in California so that more of Trevor's family and friends could attend. Just Married Wedding Photos576876_428164607215836_1442390054_n 560444_427969863901977_480844459_nInstead of cake, they decided to serve mini pies! They were made by a personal friend of Trevor's mother. Wedding Reception The reception decorations were done by family and friends, as were the photography at both wedding receptions. 533188_427969767235320_1210805609_nWedding Reception To The Present Now the happy couple has just recently celebrated their second year of marriage, Trevor is nearing the completion of his first degree, and the two are expecting a baby girl this July! A big thanks to Trevor and Emily for sharing their wedding with us and with future brides. Real Wedding: Purple and French With Trina & Spencer

Real Wedding: A French Styled Purple Wedding With Trina & SpencerBride and Groom

Meet the couple: Tina and Spencer met and fell in love while attending their church activities. Trina quickly picked him out as a cutie and it wasn't long until they were dating. The first time they kissed, Trina snuck a kiss on his cheek as he dropped her off at her front door and Spencer's face lit up. Trina remembers it feeling so special and sweet to see him beaming as he drove off that night. Spencer, nervous, proposed to Trina up at the look out point in Fullerton California after spending more time than normal trudging through trails and sprinklers. Of course, Trina eagerly said yes, but right before Spencer put the ring on her finger he adorably asked "This is the finger it is supposed to go on right?" Essentially sealing the deal for Trina's heart without even realizing it. This sweet couple was married in the LDS Newport Beach Temple followed by a simple ring ceremony through the OC Sailing and Event Center for those that were unable to enter the Temple to be a part of. The wedding and reception was full of joy and fun; however, the night before the wedding they were met with sobering news: Trina's father had passed away. Sharing this, Trina stated that "with love, support, and smiles, our family was able to have an amazing wedding day". Her father's passing made each quiet moment special and she knew without a doubt that her father was still with her that day. Their Wedding Style : French with Purple All Over Real Wedding CenterpiecesTheir table centerpieces alternated between tall elegant vases with flowers by Saadia Kibirya from Kismat Events and intricate birdcages. Real Wedding Centerpieces Real Wedding Sign in TableTheir sign in table included delicately wrapped wedding favors, a cute Mr. and Mrs. frame, and a sign in book with colorful signing pens. Wedding Cupcakes Being a couple that enjoys being exactly who they are, they decided to mix up the traditional wedding cake and chose to do wedding cup cakes! The alternating deep and light blue flowers worked beautiful with the purple color scheme and added a nice color pop. Along with the cupcakes they had a small cake so that they could keep the tradition of the bride and groom cutting the cake together. Wedding Cake
Reception DecorIn order to really establish their theme at their reception, they had a table beautifully set for the the bride and groom. This acted as a perfect focal point and really created the ambiance Trina was looking for. Pruple Reception Decor
Real Wedding Bridal Bouquet Trina's bouquet was divine. It featured dark purple calla lilies wrapped in a black ribbon and a simple (and yet it is also decadent) bouquet accessory. Bridesmaid Bouquet The bridesmaid bouquets included as single flower, feather, and neatly tied black ribbon. Real Wedding BridesmaidDeciding to be flexible, Trina wanted her bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses with the only decree being that they were purple. Though this decision lead to a lot of stress and debates on whether or not pink could work instead, the final look of each girl was exactly what Trina had been hoping for. Bridal Party First Dance They decided to keep to tradition with cutting the cake, a first dance, and throwing the bouquet. It was extremely important to them that they could enjoy each moment to the fullest. Bouquet Toss The reception really was full of fun! They had a DJ, dance floor, photo booth, and great food! Trina and Spencer both felt that the night was magical. Wedding Photobooth The Planning Process : Spencer and Tina had a little under three months to plan their wedding, which might seem terrifying, but since Trina had just spent the last year working as a wedding planner, she wasn't too worried. The biggest stress was the bridesmaid dresses, but everyone eventually cooperated. The best way to shop? Online! Trina and Spencer found almost everything online. If it wasn't, they had picked up at Michaels.

The planning flew by and the wedding day flew by, but it will always be a beautiful day to remember.
