Ruby Wedding Inspiration

Four Things to Consider for your Ruby Wedding

Ruby Wedding Idea Board

Center of Attention or Background?

Ruby, as a gemstone and as a wedding color, is most definitely the center of attention. This means that any other colors you have aside the Ruby should be chosen to enhance its beauty and meaning. Being bold should not mean you can't play it up.  For example, you may choose it to be a pop of color - steal drawing attention - like in the bouquet of our inspiration collage. Or, it can be dramatically center stage like in the sequin bridesmaid dresses. Ruby has a warmth to it that undercuts the hardness or loudness that can sometime accompany red.  This means you really can have Ruby sequin dress with it looking romantic and luxurious and not Vegas show girl.

Meaningful Connections

As a gemstone, Rubies are known to evoke passion and romance. According to crystalvaults.com "ruby has always been associated with love, especially faithful passionate commitment and closeness" and were in fact once thought to be the perfect wedding stone.  Really, the only thing a young couple wants more than to live happily ever after is to live passionately ever after. Food for thought: Have you ever heard of the joke tradition to put a marble in a jar every time.. eh hem...in your first year of marriage and to take a marble out every time *cough* in the years after and even 50 years later you'll still not have emptied the jar? So, maybe using a Ruby as the center stone of your wedding and maybe even your wedding ring will prevent that from being you!

Vintage Real Wedding with President and Jackie Kennedy

JFK Wedding Day As we approach Independence day, we would like to pay homage to and feature the wedding of one of the most loved presidential couples in our history as a country: President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy (Jackie). Known for being a socialite and having impeccable, classy style, it is a wonderful privilege to be able to take a peak into Jackie Kennedy's wedding day and to celebrate a time in their lives that was full of hope and promises.

Keeping Wedding Traditions

As a country, the U.S. is full of traditions as a part of the foundation of who we are. The fact that most of the country will be attending holiday parades, park events, and fire work shows in honor of those who have served and in celebration of the independence of this country is a demonstration of our love for (and need of) tradition. There seems to be a security or reassurance in tradition. That is probably why we uphold them and why it is so comforting -and even exciting- to see that in the lives of our Presidents traditions are kept. JFK and Jackie Kennedy upheld many wedding traditions, including but not limited to the first dance and cutting the cake.

Having so many glimpses into their wedding, knowing where their future led, emphasizes the wonderful nature of the wedding day. It is a snap shot, and captured moment of simple joy, complete love, and the promise of many days of happiness. As you approach your wedding day, don't forget it's significance goes beyond the table settings and the reception decorations. Have your goal for the day to have the same look of joy on your face as the Kennedy's do on their wedding day.

Honeymoon Cash Jar

HONEYMOON FUND JAR

For many cultures it is traditional to have a Money Dance during the wedding reception. The idea being that guests would slip some money into a designated money purse or basket in order to happily take the Bride (or Groom) for a twirl on the dance floor. This is a great way to get people dancing and having fun, as well as securing some spending money for your honeymoon getaway. Plus, it gives your guests that special moment to congratulate you as you embark on your new journey of married life.

If you are not planning on having   a money dance at your recepScrolling Heart Birdcage Card Holdertion, or have other dance numbers in mind (maybe a choreographed dance with your bridesmaids as a last hurrah and to remind your groom how lucky he is), a newer trend with the same thread of thought is the Honeymoon Fund Jar.  While it is titled a jar, it, of course, does not have to be a literal jar. Instead, pick something that coordinates with your wedding theme. If you want to focus on the journey  Mini Suitcase Wishing Well

you are taking, or have a vintage theme wedding, a suitcase styled case could be perfect. If your theme or style alludes to fairy tales or secret gardens, then a wired bird cage or even a large lantern would look lovely. If you are going country chic or just plain playful, then a large jar with a ribbon in your color may be what you are looking for.  No matter what you choose, having a Honeymoon Fund Jar at your wedding is a great idea. Just put it on your sign in table with a cute note telling your guests what it is for.

It may even be a good idea to bring the jar to your Bridal Shower. You could make a game of it by asking your guests to put advice or date ideas in along with a little green (no pressure) or  pass along the jar as people share how they know you or they favorite memory with you.  Either way, having a honeymoon fund jar at your bridal shower and wedding can help you make your honeymoon a little more fun and stress free.
