The Many Uses for Wedding Tote Bags

Wedding Tote Bags and your Wedding

Wedding Tote Bags

Wedding tote bags have several uses during the wedding planning process. During planning, it’s good to have wedding tote bags to keep all of your wedding materials in the same place (fabric samples from vendors, wedding magazines, itineraries, etc), so nothing gets lost in the corners of your apartment. Keep your wedding tote bags (you shouldn’t need more than one) in a place where you’ll be able to get a hold of them quickly. Tote your wedding tote bags around with you when you visit vendors so you can pull out brochures and compare prices on the spot!   Wedding tote bags can also be used as a wonderful gift for your bridesmaids – get them embroidered with their names for a special touch!   You can also use wedding tote bags as a nice welcome gift for out-of-town guests. Stuff your wedding tote bags with goodies from your area and maps and brochures that might be helpful for guests who are unfamiliar with the area. Arrange to have them dropped off in hotel rooms before your guests arrive for a nice surprise!   As gifts or tools, wedding tote bags are great companions for your wedding!

Spreadsheets for a Perfect Wedding Budget

Congratulations on your engagement! The first few months of your engagement (depending on how long you want to wait for the big day) can be a little overwhelming if you start planning things out early. Figuring out budgets and checking out locations can become a little disorganized, and I definitely recommend a solid wedding spreadsheet.

Microsoft Excel is designed to be easy to use and helpful, and is especially wonderful during the wedding planning process - take advantage of it! If you aren't comfortable using Excel (or an equivalent program), try to get help from your new fiancé/fiancée or a particularly friendly coworker. I first learned how to navigate the wonderful world of spreadsheets by looking around on Google and YouTube for quick "basics" tutorials, as you won't need anything past a basic understanding to create a good wedding spreadsheet - it's an amazing tool, as it practically does all of your budgeting for you.   Columns! So Exciting!
Columns can be organized by different budget scenarios, with the running total on top (for ease of access), starting with your ideal budget and working toward budgets that are more specific. I recommend one column for an ideal budget, a column for projected budget (how much you think you'll actually spend. Depending on different variables, you can have multiples of these), a column for various quoted prices, and an actual money spent column. These columns will help you to keep your budget in perspective as you move forward, and it works well for testing out different combinations and package options to see how they would affect your overall budget. Sometimes it's hard to visualize all budget outcomes without a tangible guide, and Excel is a great solution. Rows! Hooray!
Your rows can be as general or specific as you like, but keep in mind that you can always add subheadings for specific items that are a part of a larger group. You can have a row for "party rentals" and a row for "tables," or you can group them together as a single expense. These groupings will change depending on how inclusive venues and packages are and you can always group them in later columns. The reason that Excel is such a great wedding planning tool is that no expense with take you by surprise at the last minute as you add up your expenses and discuss priorities with your future spouse. Excel can be a singular tool that keeps track of your expenses and helps you decide where you want to spend your money on your wedding day! Color code away!

Always the Right Occasion for a Mature Wedding Cake Topper

Gifting or Getting your Mature Wedding Cake Topper

Mature Wedding Cake Topper

Weddings aren't just for 20-somethings anymore. The mature couple about to enter into wedded bliss (or the couple looking to celebrate an anniversary or renew their wedding vows) will appreciate the sentiment and aesthetic of the mature wedding cake topper. A mature wedding cake topper represents the older couple in a manner more suited to their ages and interests, and usually shies away from the risqué (though who wouldn't love a 60-something love pinching the man she loves?). The mature wedding cake topper market has definitely expanded, and there's something for every style and aesthetic (look out for a same-sex mature wedding cake topper - they're gaining in popularity as well!). A mature wedding cake topper also makes a great gift for a couple you love who might be celebrating a wedding, anniversary, or vow renewal. A mature wedding cake topper is just the right accessory for decorating a home that is new or familiar to the happy couple. There's always room for a mature wedding cake topper.   Your mature wedding cake topper is a wonderful addition to a party space regardless of the occasion. Place it on top of a 12-tier sparkling marvel of modern pastry or just on the edge of a mantle already overflowing with nick-knacks. A mature wedding cake topper can find a home anywhere.

A Wedding Must-Have: The Maid of Honor Emergency Kit

A Maid of Honor Emergency Kit as a Gift and Necessity

Maid of Honor Emergency Kit

A maid of honor emergency kit does not mean that you, the humble maid of honor, will be required to put out any literal fires or resuscitate a bride with a mighty case of the vapors, but it will prepare you for any other wedding-related emergencies on the big day. A maid of honor emergency kit is usually equipped with all of the wedding day essentials: safety pins, mouth wash, and (my personal favorite) earring backs. A maid of honor emergency kit will make it much easier for you to fly about the day-of putting out (metaphorical) fires and keeping everything and everyone in line.   If you are a bride looking for the right gift for your ever-present and ever-supportive maid of honor, look no further than the maid of honor emergency kit. A maid of honor emergency kit, though helpful on the day of the wedding, is great for any planner who loves to be prepared for anything. There are any number of things that can rip or fall apart or lose a button the morning of a wedding marathon, and a maid of honor emergency kit is a wonderful tool to have standing by. Designate someone to watch over the maid of honor emergency kit (minding that it doesn't have to be the maid of honor), and make sure you keep an eye on where it is throughout the day. You never know when you might pop a seam or need to prepare for a very special kiss - your maid of honor emergency kit will be ready to help!

The Many Shapes and Sizes of Rustic Wedding Cake Toppers

Rustic Wedding Cake Toppers: Choices, Choices!

Rustic Wedding Cake Toppers

Now more than ever, brides are opting for retro, down-home weddings. Though these weddings might be losing the flare that we see so often on shows like "Say Yes to the Dress" and "My Fair Wedding," they're becoming more and more earnest, honest, and beautifully simple. So bring on the mason jars and soft country lighting, rustic brides, and find the perfect rustic wedding cake toppers for your rural, vintage big day.   So what should you be looking for in rustic wedding cake toppers? Well, really anything goes, as long as you dress it up correctly. Many brides are choosing barn yard animals (sheep, rosters), and making some DIY perches and nests that produce an earthy, vintage vibe for the rusting wedding cake toppers. Another fun trend in rustic wedding cake toppers is the paper doll set - something that looks like it was made on "Little House on the Prairie" but is not at all lost in the elegance of a wedding. You might also consider vintage, porcelain, or otherwise aged-looking toppers to fit the rustic wedding cake toppers-sized hole in your life. If you aren't in a position to scrounge in your own attic for rustic wedding cake toppers to use on your big day, the cloudy, old world feel of vintage or porcelain cake toppers might be just what you need. Rustic wedding cake toppers come in all shapes and sizes, but they always make the day come together!

A Fashion Guide for the Nervous Wedding Guest

I've often found myself locked in some shaky department store dressing room when I hear something like the following conversation taking place right outside my door:   "Do you think this will work for the wedding on Saturday?" "I have no idea, but it seems like it might be a bit casual." "I'm just worried about the little white hearts on the edging. I don't know if it's too much white for a wedding."   It's a conversation that many of us have as we stare hopelessly into the full-length mirror in the days leading up to someone else's impending nuptials, especially if we don't go to weddings often. Most guests stress more than they have to, but here's a quick guide if you're still not sure about your outfit for someone's big day: 1. Wearing "White"
If you're wearing a dress, but you're not sure if the color counts as white, you might want to find something else. It doesn't matter if the tag says "off-white" or "bone" or "antique," you're still going to look like you wore a white dress to a wedding, and that's been a no-no since white became "it" in wedding wear. It's probably the only wedding fashion rule every other guest is sure to know about - so why risk looking like you missed the memo and you're trying to upstage the bride?
If you're wearing white pants with a navy top, or white pumps, or a white clutch, or a patterned dress with white flowers on it, you're totally fine. No one is expecting you do ignore the shade entirely, and no one is going to side-eye your fashion choices if you're wearing nice white pants with a yellow blouse and navy pumps. 2. The Invitation
For guests who are biting their nails about the formality of the wedding and the accompanying dress code, your first clue is the invitation (or Save-the-Date, if your hosts chose to use them). While most brides won't come right out and say how you should dress right on the invite, the formality of the paper goods sent to your house are an adequate marker for how formal the event will be. Also, snoop around on their wedding website and find a few links to the ceremony and reception spaces. If the wedding is in a swanky hotel at 8pm on a Saturday, you'll probably dress a little differently than a Tuesday afternoon backyard BBQ. 3. It Never Hurts to Ask There's probably no reason to bother the couple themselves about your selected wedding outfit (the bride is probably a little busy with her own), but if you're close with a family member or member of the bridal party, think about shooting them an email with a picture of your dress or outfit. This is a good way to find out if your outfit is shooting up any red flags that you may have missed, like you've accidentally selected something very similar to a bridesmaid dress, or plan on wearing shoes that will not be conducive to the wedding environment. Hopefully they'll include any hazardous terrain warnings on their wedding website, but it never hurts to check!   Good Luck!

Fill your Space with Floral Wedding Accents

Floral Wedding Accents – Love Never Dies!

Floral Wedding Accents

A ceremony and reception space can be a daunting cavern to fill, and fresh flowers tend to skyrocket a wedding budget faster than you would expect. You don’t have to eliminate fresh flowers from your favorite florist in order to keep your budget in check, however, you just have to supplement with floral wedding accents. Floral wedding accents are any bunches of arranged flowers (often paper or silk) that you can use to bulk up the beauty of your reception or ceremony space. There are floral wedding accents for all venues and budgets, and they are often a wonderful way to get flowers in places that might otherwise go without.   Many brides love to use floral wedding accents on the backs of chairs or the pews in a church – especially for more strict churches (or any other indoor venue) who don’t want to be cleaning up leaves and pollen once the event is over. Floral wedding accents and fixtures are also wonderful if you’re planning on transporting flowers from one venue to another. Floral wedding accents don’t tend to wilt in the car or drip all over the backseat! Guests also love to take floral wedding accents home – whether they’ve been incorporated into the centerpieces, the favors, or elsewhere. Because floral wedding accents never die, your guests will be reminded of your wedding for a lifetime!

Andres and Andreas’ Wedding Reception

Andrea and Andres’ wedding reception was held at a private estate in the hills near the church where they held their ceremony. While the bridal entourage took pictures in the expansive backyard overlooking the beautiful California skyline, guests mingled at the front of the estate, entertained by live mariachi music and light cocktails. The wedding, from ceremony to reception, had an old-world feel that came across beautifully in the décor, food, style, and venue. The backyard was transformed for the Muller wedding (with the family even re-landscaping part of it for the lounge), featuring a polished wood dance floor with floating pink lanterns, a lounge at the fringe of the party, and several family-style tables adorned with flowers and food. The small orange trees that peppered the dance floor, combined with the blooms floating in the permanent garden fountain, helped create a perfect setting for the laid-back, family wedding. The white guest tables were draped with blue-green burlaps and lined with bunches of spring blossoms such as roses, ranunculus, parrot tulips, garden roses, and other similar blooms atop hunks of driftwood. Blooms were also found in mason jars that had been painted in a chic, vintage style (with a pale blue drip around the rim of each jar). Escort cards, table numbers, and menus all matched in style and color, and coordinated beautifully with the other stationary that led up to the event: programs and invitations. The focus of the wedding was definitely the dance floor – it was full of guests throughout the duration of the evening – though most people did find time to make trips to the bar (where margaritas and wine dominated the menu) and to eat the delicious dinner prepared by famous Orange County food truck, Barcelona on the Go. Guests also indulged in one of the event’s several cakes, featuring flavors such as succulent chocolate, tiramisu, and red velvet. The reception space was filled with color throughout the entire evening. Pinks, oranges, whites, yellows, and greens faded to a warm glow as the lanterns became the primary focus of the evening. It looked as if this backyard was meant to host Andres and Andreas’ reception!
